SUMMARY:April Program: Are you Agile enough?
DESCRIPTION:Mature Agile Teams: Sixteen Essential Patterns\n\nMany tea
ms have a relatively easy time adopting the tactical aspects of the ag
ile methodologies. Usually a few classes, some tools’ introduction,
and a bit of practice lead teams toward a fairly efficient and effecti
ve adoption. However, these teams quite often are simply going through
the motions and neither maximizing their agile performance nor delive
ring as much value as they could.\n\nBorrowing from his experience and
lean software development methods, Bob Galen explores essential patte
rns—the ”thinking models” of mature agile teams—including larg
e-scale emergent architecture, relentless refactoring, quality on all
fronts, pervasive product owners, lean work queues, stretching above a
nd beyond, providing total transparency, saying “No”, and many mor
 e. Bob also explores the leadership dilemma of self-directed teams and
why there is still the need for active and vocal leadership in defend
ing, motivating, and holding agile teams accountable.\n\nBob Galen is
an Agile Methodologist, Practitioner & Coach based in Cary, NC. In thi
s role he helps guide companies and teams in their pragmatic adoption
and organizational shift towards Scrum and other Agile methods and pra
ctices. He is currently the Director of R&D and Agile Coach at iContac
t, an email marketing SaaS provider. He is also President and Principa
l Consultant for RGCG, LLC. Bob has held director, manager and contrib
utor level positions in both software development and quality assuranc
e organizations. He has over 25 years of experience working in a wide
variety of domains at companies including Bayer, Bowe–Bell & Howell
Mail Processing, ChannelAdvisor, EMC, Lucent, Unisys and Thomson.\n\nB
ob regularly speaks at international conferences and professional grou
ps on topics related to software development, project management, soft
ware testing and team leadership. He is a Certified Scrum Master Pract
icing (CSP) since 2004, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), and an a
ctive member of the Agile Alliance & Scrum Alliance. In 2009 he publis
hed the book Scrum Product Ownership – Balancing Value from the Insi
de Out. The book addresses the gap in guidance towards effective agile
product management. You can find the book here - http://tinyurl.com/c
