Ms. Theresa Payton is a well-known and highly respected national authority on cybersecurity, e-crime and fraud mitigation, and technology implementation with over 20 years of advanced business and security technology expertise and leadership at the highest levels of both government and in the financial services industry.

 

Peter J. Ahearn, Jr, Special Agent, Federal Bureau of Investigation

Special Agent Peter J. Ahearn Jr. has been with the FBI since February 2009. After completing training at the FBI Academy in Quantico Virginia, SA Ahearn was assigned to the Cyber Crimes Squad in the Charlotte Division, Raleigh Resident Agency. SA Ahearn is currently investigating Cyber Crimes involving network intrusion events, the distribution of child pornography investigations, theft of intellectual property rights violations in and around North Carolina, and national security related Cyber events.

 

Joan Myers

Joan Myers is an entrepreneurial, politically astute leader who has a deep passion for innovation, a global perspective and a strong sense of patriotism and commitment to U.S. competitiveness. Currently she serves as Director of SOF and Cyber Technologies for Applied Research Associates (ARA.) Former positions include Director, Special Projects for the Partnership for Defense Innovation/Defense Security Technology Accelerator, Director, U.S. Policy for SAS, and she served as President and CEO of the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA).

 

Thomas Hyslip, Supervisory Special Agent, Department of Defense Criminal Investigative Service

Thomas Hyslip has served as a Supervisory Special Agent with the Department of Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) since May 2007. As a Supervisory Special Agent with the DCIS, Special Agent Hyslip manages the computer crime program for the Southeast Field Office which investigates computer crime affecting the Department of Defense Global Information Grid, and supports others Special Agents of the DCIS with computer forensic support. As the criminal investigative arm of the Department of Defense Inspector General, the DCIS has primary investigative authority for all activities affecting the Department of Defense.

 

Tim Brown, CISSP, CPDM, Sr. Security Specialist, NC ISAAC Cyber SME

Tim Brown currently works as the Team Lead on the State of North Carolina ITS Enterprise Security & Risk Management Office. Tim has over 13 years of experience with State and Local government with CyberSecurity as his primary focus. As Team Lead on the Threat Management / Incident Response Team, Tim provides incident response including network, server and PC forensics as well as dissemination of threat information, operation of the NC-ISAC (IT), and interfacing with Multi-State ISAC and other government partners. Tim also serves as the Cyber Subject Matter Expert for the NC-ISAAC Fusion Center.
