Ms. Tomlin was promoted to her current position of Information Technology Risk Manager in October 2008 and was charged with creating a new IT Risk Management function. As the IT Risk Manager, she is responsible for the establishment and ongoing leadership of an enterprise-wide, holistic, disciplined and highly integrated IT risk management program for the organization. Ms. Tomlin was originally hired by BB&T in November 2003 to develop and build an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Department for the organization. In early 2004, she initiated and formed an ERM Networking group with several peer financial institutions. In this capacity, she served on the American Bankers Association’s ERM Group and was a founding member of North Carolina State University’s ERM Initiative Advisory Board.
Ms. Tomlin received her B.S. in Accounting from Radford University in 1978 and, until 2009, served on the President’s Business Advisory Council for the university from its inception. Upon graduation, Ms. Tomlin joined the staff of First Virginia Banks, Inc. (a regional bank holding company headquartered outside of Washington, DC acquired by BB&T in 2003), where she served in increasingly responsible positions within Audit Services. In March of 1986, Ms. Tomlin was promoted to Vice President and General Auditor for the organization. She continued in that capacity until her promotion to Executive Vice President and Operations Divisions Manager in 2001. During her tenure in Audit Services, Ms. Tomlin achieved her Certified Bank Auditor and Certified Public Accountant designations. She is also a 1990 Honors Graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

He is an original co-developer of “FIND” (Financial Information into Narrative Data), the company's core artificial intelligence technology which converts financial numbers into plain-language reports. “FIND” is the basis of ProfitCents® and Sageworks Analyst®, applications that are used today by thousands of financial institutions and accounting firms throughout North America and the United Kingdom.
Brian holds an MBA from Duke University and a bachelor's degree from Sacred Heart University. He is a noted expert in finance who has been published and quoted in most major national media outlets. He is currently a guest columnist for Forbes.com. Brian also directs Inmates to Entrepreneurs, a community outreach program focused on teaching ex-offenders to start low capital businesses upon release from prison.
