Our association has been dedicated to the advancement of the information processing professional by promoting the effective, responsible management of information technology to the benefit of its members, their employers and society.
Unique to our chapter is the high level of involvement with our Management Advisory Council. The council takes an active role in providing direction to chapter through annual forums where topics of interest to Chief Information Officers at local companies are shared with chapter leadership. Biannually, a panel discussion, comprised of members of the council discusses a current industry hot topic. Council members also participate in our CIO Spotlight series in which the speaker presents on a topic of his choice.
The Association of Information Technology Professionals has been representing information technology professionals in the United States and Canada, since 1951. The RTP Chapter was chartered in 1952. Like the profession the chapter and the organization have evolved with the explosion and pervasiveness of technology in the workplace and our lives.
Our members consistently give us high satisfaction ratings and the National AITP organization rewards our chapter with awards and accolades.
In order to qualify for the COPA award, a chapter must meet specified goals for education, membership, public relations, meetings, and association participation.
The RTP AITP Chapter has been awarded the Chapter Outstanding Performance Award (COPA) for most years this millennium.
Region 18 of AITP includes 19 chapters covering North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and western Pennsylvania.
The RTP AITP Chapter was awarded Region 18 "Chapter of the Year" in 2003 and again in 2011. The Outstanding Chapter Award is given to chapters who have proven consistently high performance for their members. It is a high honor to have been selected for this recognition.
