Data Integration
A key part of solving business problems involves bringing together the various types of information that exist in large enterprises. For example, in spite of the proliferation of Database Management Systems, a lot of information continues to live in places like Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or in VSAM files on mainframe computers. A key aspect of working with diverse sources is remembering where they are and how to access them. Also known as metadata, this knowledge aids reuse and more importantly can give us a picture of how information is used throughout the enterprise. This presentation will discuss large organizations that have had these issues and how they are successfully leveraging technology to get the most from their information assets.
